Well thats a long read. Half weg gestopt maar wel deze.

Die ik zelf al aanhaalde in discussies aan den toog:

Google Search

Everybody I talk to that uses ChatGPT regularly uses it as either a way to generate shitty limericks or as a replacement for Google search, a product that Google has deliberately made worse as a means of increasing profits.

ChatGPT is, if I’m honest, better at processing search strings than Google Search, which is not so much a sign that ChatGPT is good at something as it is that Google has stopped innovating in any meaningful way. Over time, Google Search should’ve become something that was able to interpret your searches into the perfect result, which would require the company to improve how it processes your requests. Instead, Google Search has become dramatically worse, mostly because the company’s incentives changed from “help people find something on the web” to “funnel as much traffic and show as many ad impressions as possible on Google.com.”

Ja mee eens. Maar ook veel documentatie is ook totaal onbruikbaar (ik kijk naar jou Atlassian). Het is veel sneller (en beter voor mn geestelijke gezondheid) om een LLM te vragen hoe iets te doen als Jira admin ipv te pogen je door die puinzooi van documentatie / UX madness te worstelen.

Inderdaad @Gryzo docs van software & SaaS zijn heel dikwijls een kluwen waar je tijd verspilt om te vinden wat je nodig hebt, daar is een LLM veel beter. Al moet ik zeggen dat de Gemini-tekst die je meer en meer krijgt bovenaan in Google Search even goed is, op dat vlak is Google Search onder druk van ChatGPT toch wel verbeterd vind ik.

Hoewel lang, de rants van Ed Zitron zijn altijd goed. (Zie ook ‘The Rot Economy’.)

Zeker niet ongenuanceerd, maar wel zeer goed onderbouwd.

Ik kan me volledig vinden in het feit dat LLMs bepaalde use cases hebben, en dat we toch in een geweldige AI-bubbel zitten:

(Ik vind met name Casey Newton onuitstaanbaar als persona. Al is Platformer wel goed, en chapeau dat zo’n publicatie bestaat.)
